I am a master electrician in Texas, I have several rentals in the rural area. I have use these anodes for the past ten years. Foul smell nearly caused our Family to gag. Removing the factory anode however is a bitch. They put red loctite which is a plastic epoxy. I twisted a 5 inch extension rod in half. The tank is a Rheem (Lowe's) unit. I had to remove several inches of insulation to contend with finding the anode bolt top. Easy instructions, installation, Great product Matt.
