I have purchased this product since 2018 on a monthly basis for my customers here in Michigan. This product will get rid of the hot water odor. I had 2 led failures on the power supply in 2019. I emailed this company on a saturday night and had 2 new units in my mail box the next wednesday. Great product and customer service to say the least.
I purchased 2 of these units in June 2020 to replace 2 units of another name I purchased on Amazon that was turning my water a yellow/orange tint. I checked the power output to the anode on both units and got a reading of only .03 volts which tells me the both power supplies could not keep up after 4 months even though the bright green LED was lit. I have an AO smith 40 gallon and a Bradford 40 gallon. After the installation the Bradford tank power supply LED stayed red and would not turn green even though it was hooked up per instructions. I contacted Matt and after some photo exchanges I had to change the Bradford tank T setup to a smaller pipe length coming out of the tank. After the change the LED turned green in about 4 seconds and has been working fine since. After installing these units, the water has returned to clear once again. One power supply going to the Bradford tank is now 1.8 to 2.1 volts and the newer AO smith tank is 1.0 to 1.2. Very pleased with this product and the customer service.
I had overall a very positive experience about the product and the service. After 15mins of installation work, the product cured the sulfur smell right away and worked flawlessly for about 2 years or so. Then, one day the LED on the power supply turned RED - which indicated a problem. Matt was able to give me an email explanation right away, regardless of a weekend; After a short discussion, he offered a replacement unit free of charge, also with the shipping overseas! Superb service and product! Highly recommend.

I had a lot of communication with Matt from this company, and I have been very impressed with his knowledge, and he answered any question I had, no matter how simple, or how technical it was. He also explained to me about the background behind this kind of technology and also how it works. I also read all the reviews to learn more about this product. And I was very impressed how positive all of these reviews were.
Unfortunately my power supply went bad in about 2 months. I read that only a couple other people had a problem with their power supplies as well. Out of all high number of positive reviews, only a very small number of customers had this problem, and that really this says a lot about a product. These are very good odds. In todays world the success rate of a lot of products is really bad. And seems to be getting worse.
Well anyway, I emailed Matt, he told me some things to check out, and helped me determine that the power supply needed replacing, and sent me a new one right away. How about that for service, and, how quickly he answer emails. He also tells me that he is very proactive in fixing problems with the power supplies as problems arise. As an example, this generation of power supplies have been changed, with a more robust LED and the circuitry is improving as problems develop. Now days with mass production things are bound to have problems, but not a lot of companies seem to really care. They continue selling bad products and we as customers suffer the loss. This does not seem to be the case with Matt at WaterTankTec. He really seems to care, and truly takes good care of his customers, and cares a lot about his product. I hope his company continues to be successful, and he keeps doing such a great job for us.
Contacted Matt with a problem with my system and he was quick to determine the problem and the solution. I have been in business for almost 30 years and have dealt with a lot of companies and have never had anyone so quick to respond with solution and corrective action and explanation to avoid this problem in the future. Great communicator and great product. This guy is as good as it gets. Thanks for all your help! George
I install them for my college rental homes and they work.
I purchased this product in mid March 2019 and another one in May 2020 under the advice of my coworker who purchased one from Amazon. I do have a rotten egg smell and my heater also burns through anodes every 6 months since our water softener serves 8 people in our home and I have 2 50 gallon AO smith tanks and the softner cycles every day. I asked my plumber to install it and was surprised he never heard of them. The installation was easy and the instructions were clear according to him. When he plugged the power in the red led flashed for about 6 seconds then turned green but blinked real quick. I contacted Matt at Water Tank Tec and was told the red light was normal since the power input was adjusting and the green light would always flicker when it was done and it does. When my second unit was installed I had my plumber flush the older tank and the water was clear with no sediment or color. I am very pleased with this product.
I was not very educated about powered anode rods until I researched why water heater tanks rust. I have replaced 2 water tanks in the past 5 years. I have a rubber drip pan on the bottom so it is not sucking moisture from the cement garage floor. Our hot water odor was terrible. 2 years ago I purchased a popular powered anode on amazon. 8 days later my hot water turned black in my mud room when I turned on the faucet for about 1 minute then turned clear. I pulled their product out and the metal rod was pitted with brown and black and silver on the metal rod, junk. I purchased this product 5 months ago, no discolored water, no odor so I pulled the rod out of my heater figuring it was doing nothing. The rod was as black as new, plugged the power supply back in and it turned red then green so I know it is working properly as described. Very happy and this is my review.
I am very pleased with the results of this product. I purchased a 3rd one this week for our rental home.
I have a AO smith 110 gallon tank I purchased 2 years ago and purchased a popular powered anode rod for it on Amazon. I recently had to purchase another water tank due to more hot water demand. After paralleling the tanks I purchased this ICCP system because it cost less and I liked bolt connections over the slip on wire of the other product. I received it in 3 days after ordering. The instructions were clear and easy to understand. After installing it, I checked the power output with a voltage multimeter to the anode and it was 2.3 volts. I checked the other 2 year unit and the voltage was only .4 volts. Not fully understanding why the voltage was different, I switched the powered anodes on the tanks. The old power anode was still putting out .4 volts and the new powered anode was putting out a higher 3.1 volts on the older tank. I contacted water tank tec and asked why the difference. After a long email Matt explained that my power supply for the old product was slowly failing. He advised me to switch the rods back to the original tank and the results would be the same. After 1 hour water tank tec went from 3.0 to 2.2 volts and the other product was .4 volts. My test proved to me it is proof in the pudding that this product has up and down voltage that adjusts to the tank. I don't have the funds at this time to replace the older power anode but will in the future with this product.
I have a house on a well. It is a duplex so there are 2 water heaters and both were replaced within a year of each other. Different brands, different sizes – one had much worse sulfur (rotten egg) smell than the other. I found out that all water heaters are sold with an anode (the rod) that is designed for city water that includes chlorine. Though manufacturers make other ones with different rods, they are impossible to find in home center stores. I went to a large, professional plumbing supply store knowing that there were multiple styles – the “helpful” counter clerk said “you need the black one” (they were all black-ish and in a big bucket with no marks or distinguishing characteristics. $30 later with the one the guy told me to buy and within a week it stunk just as bad – and the slimy white stuff growing on it was disgusting to think that I was drinking that. I took it back to the store, got another one thinking they sold me the wrong one – same problem.
At that point I heard about “powered anodes” and in desperation tried one. It was that or hundreds of dollars to pour chemicals down my well and treat it – when I knew it wasn’t the well that was at fault since the cold water was fine. That was 3 years ago and the powered anode cured the problem immediately. I had not replaced the rod in the 2nd heater and it would smell occasionally depending on whether it had rained recently. I was replacing my softener and had good access to it and decided to put a powered anode in this one – I pulled the one on the old heater and it was spotless – no gross growths and it looks as good as the day it was new. For the new one I bought one from ICCP (Water Tank Tec). I ordered it because they were quite a bit less expensive than the first one I bought.
Once it arrived, I was able to compare the unit side-by-side with their competitor and I can say that the ICCP unit is machined beautifully (I’ve done a lot of mechanical work and can tell good workmanship). My degree is in Electrical Engineering and the design of their power supply is an improvement over the competitor. I like that it validates the tank size and gives a visual indicator that the unit is working as designed. The design allows for recessed installation and everything about how the wiring attaches to the unit is well thought out and elegantly designed – the ends on the wiring of the competitor fell off and I had to crimp my own on and the hole in it wouldn’t fit over the screw on the tank. No such problems with the ICCP unit – it has ends the perfect size and both attach over a single shaft. The wiring itself is thicker and I don’t worry about it shorting out around water. The anode itself is a solid titanium rod rather than a strip of who-knows-what-metal in the competitor and ICCP provides an extension for certain installation needs. That used a hex bolt the quality in workmanship was obvious.
I am not being paid for this review – I am just a customer that appreciates hard-working entrepreneurs and I offered up my thoughts to the company because I appreciate people who do things the right way. Good design and workmanship is really hard to come by these days and when you can get a unit that is competitively priced, with better features, and thoughtfully designed, the buying decision is truly as they say a “no-brainer”.
I ordered this product 4 years ago and purchased 3 more May 16, 2020 for 3 of our new rental units. I received the products in 3 days after ordering. I could not remove 1 of the anodes and was given a refund. I run company that camera scopes sewer and storm water lines for tree roots and collapsed lines. I removed the sensor rod as they call it and inserted my scope into my 4 year old tank from the original purchase. The tank did not show any signs of internal corrosion. It has performed as their add states.
I ordered this product and then noticed that the estimated delivery date was May 2023. I cancelled the order and was contacted by the seller, Matt. He explained that the "2023" was a mistake but he was having difficulty getting Amazon to correct the date. I contacted Amazon and rescinded my cancellation, received the powered anode within 3 days and it's functioning great. We have a small, electric hot water heater for the shop and it sits sometimes for long times without being used. As a result, we get bacteria growth that smells like rotten eggs over time. We have to treat with hydrogen peroxide sometimes to get rid of the odor. The powered anode should correct that issue.
At first I wasn't sure this would take care of my issue. I had the typical sulfur smell in my hot water only. Four months ago I replaced the aluminum rod and the smell did disappear only to return a few weeks ago. I debated on replacing it again and found this powered rod and even thought it was more costly, I wanted the smell gone. Turns out after installing the powered rod, within 12 hours the smell was gone. The install was simple and the cost was worth it. Thanks for a great product.
I purchased this product in December 2019 for a bradford white heater tank. The LED on the power supply turned red as soon as I plugged it in. After an email to the seller and a photo, I lowered the in pipe and the LED flashed red then turned green. Great product, no more rotten egg odor.
I installed this product in our rental home and have not received anymore complants from the renter since January. It works as the add says.
Purchased in April 2020. I flushed my tank, installed the product and the odor did not return. I tested the voltage output of the power supply after putting it in and the voltage was 4.3 volts. I felt this was too high so I contacted water tank tec and was told if the led is green then it is working properly. I also noticed that everytime my water softner cycles every 3 days the voltage lowers then raises before the next cycle so I am convinced this is a smart power supply. Thanks a bunch!
I have 2 electric water heaters and have to replace the anode rods every 8 months. I tried a leading sellers product on amazon and after 4 months the power supply LED went out. I received another power supply and it was getting hot 1 day after plugging it in. I contacted the company again and was denied a refund since the original purchase was passed the 90 days refund offer $119 dollors down the drain. I ended up researching powered anodes and decided to email Matt. After a few emails I decided to buy his product. After 6 months I feel it is proper to send this review for I have not had any problems with this product so I recently purchased another one for my second tank. I will say in closing that I never had an odor problem I was getting tired of replacing the factory rods. I would recomend this seller by all means.
This product works as advertised. I purcahsed a new water tank and it was the 2nd one in 6 years. My water eats water tanks. I know this review is late but it has been 3 years since I installed this product and after my recomended anual flushing, I have NO rust comming out of the bottom of the hose. Great product.
I ordered this product from Amazon on March 16th. 2 weeks later it still had not arrived. After contacting Matt he ran a trace and informed me that it was delivered to a home 7 miles from mine (post office screw up). I went to the home and the owners who were inside (saw the lights on) did not answer the door. Long story short, Matt send me another unit with a signature required at his expence and I had the unit 2 days later. I have never had this type of customer and retailer experience before and I was so very thankful since I am on a limited budget. This product worked for me. I no longer have any water odor in my 1 year old water tank. I would recomend this seller to anyone, bless him for his effort.
